Where you plant your feet

Ever thought, where you plant your feet? How have you influenced these places you found yourself; and how have these places influenced you and the life you live? Are you aware how you come to be at these places? External circumstances beyond your control? Or a personal choice to be there? Or a non-conscious … Continue reading Where you plant your feet

Living the Rhythm of Life

My guest post on @RonovanWrites

ronovanwrites

Florence 2This month’s guest is Florence Thum of Meanings and Musings. Lawyer, Therapist, College Professor, Writer, Blogger, Mother, and more. And no, those are not in any particular order. A lady from Down Under with a lot to say and lot of ways to say it.

As I venture here as a guest still wondering what I could possibly offer on RonovanWrites, I am reminded ‘write what you love’. At the moment, what I love is TIME because I have so little of it. It is what I covet most.

Time poorTime cannot be bought, it is beyond my control. If I do nothing, if no one does anything, time will still pass in its own rhythm, in its own time.

Time is.

Of course my perception of how time passes, the judgment I bring to its passing and to my being in it as it passes, is my own. That…

Christmas carols

For some reason this year I have a hankering for Christmas carols.  Perhaps they are reminiscent of the Christmas of my childhood - being in a carol party and the sense of belonging and community, the shared experiences as a family at Christmas time, the carefree and bountious occasion... Perhaps I am reminded this … Continue reading Christmas carols

Here’s what’s on Top of my Christmas Tree – what’s on Yours?

This is what is on top of my Christmas tree this year.  It's a family tradition to have a star, to shine the way for the year ahead.  It is of course crucial to the nativity story, right? 🙂 And by posting this, I am helping Angela and Hugh raise up to £250 for charity. … Continue reading Here’s what’s on Top of my Christmas Tree – what’s on Yours?

Alone and being

To be open to creativity, one needs the capacity for constructive use of solitude. One must overcome the fear of being alone.         Rollo May Let’s face it, to be alone triggers undesired thoughts to surface then, there is nowhere to hide, little to distract us from our doubts. There are days when keeping busy is … Continue reading Alone and being

Come away from the din

‘Come away from the din. Come away to the quiet fields, over which the great sky stretches, and where, between us, and the stars, there lies but silence; and there, in the stillness let us listen to the voice that is speaking within us.’               Jerome K Jerome   Today, I choose to leave... to … Continue reading Come away from the din

Soul connection, really?

soul connection

“A deep sense of love and belonging is an irreducible need of all people. We are biologically, cognitively, physically, and spiritually wired to love, to be loved, and to belong. When those needs are not met, we don't function as we were meant to. We break. We fall apart. We numb. We ache. We hurt … Continue reading Soul connection, really?

Who is the mirror of your soul?

“A true soul mate is a mirror…” Do you agree? Can you be your own soul mate?

Otrazhenie

From http://polysyllabicprofundities

“People think a soul mate is your perfect fit, and that’s what everyone wants. But a true soul mate is a mirror, the person who shows you everything that is holding you back, the person who brings you to your own attention so you can change your life.

A true soul mate is probably the most important person you’ll ever meet, because they tear down your walls and smack you awake.”

Steps Of Happiness or Steps Towards Happiness?

One step at a time… each step a joy… Enjoy this article!

View Pacific

In an earlier post on this blog, I shared a list of steps I regularly take which add to my happiness.

I originally entitled it Steps Towards Happiness.

My reasoning was that no single steps would automatically bring happiness to me or anybody. Also, it seemed to me that by heading more and more often in the direction of happiness, we’re more likely to be happier more than before. So, “towards” seemed clearer and modest.

A few days after releasing that blog post, I listened to a talk by Zen Buddhist Thich Nhat Hanh. He pointed out that happiness is not the destination, it is the way. It’s not where we’re headed, it’s how we are. Happiness is elusive to many of us, because it’s not something we can buy and take out when we want it. It’s not something we can pile up and dole out whenever we’d…

Ever asked yourself – ‘Who am I’?

This is a reflection on the process of reflection…and awareness. So, no deep and dark secret to divulge here. Aahh, so I am a private person after all, a private person blogging. Contradiction in terms? How often have we asked ourselves, ‘who am I’? A simple question with a multitude of answers. Years ago, when … Continue reading Ever asked yourself – ‘Who am I’?

Love and beauty

Synchronicity, that's what I think it is, that I am noticing of late these amazing 'stuff' on love and beauty.  I would like to share a couple that resonated with me. Love - 4 letters, one syllable - such a short word and yet so complex.  Quoting from a BrainPickings article, Vincent Van Gogh extolled: "Love … Continue reading Love and beauty

Oh, what is love?

“Knowledge is a process of piling up facts; wisdom lies in their simplification.” Martin H. Fischer Crush, infatuation, passion, love… words loaded with meanings. Yet if we are asked to define each one, these words would present different images and meanings to everyone. In fact, I wonder whether the English language is fully capable of … Continue reading Oh, what is love?

Choose to let go

“We need to find the courage to say 'NO' to the things and people that are not serving us if we want to rediscover ourselves and live our lives with authenticity.” Dr. Barbara De Angelis It is never easy to give up the things that we've 'always' done or 'always' had. They have become habits … Continue reading Choose to let go

See the signs

“Fiction reveals truth that reality obscures.” Ralph Waldo Emerson To a younger self... Well, do you see the signs? You have been hurt, by others or by circumstances, and you no longer trust. Four in the morning

Is it a coincidence that I came across this TED talk by John G Rives titled “Museum of Four in the Morning” (see below)?  I think not, because four in the morning is also my time. Four in the morning …a moment Far removed from yesterday When the work is done, the lovemaking is passed, … Continue reading Four in the morning
