We did not lose ourselves.

We did not lose ourselves because in each moment we were creating ourselves. Decades of life… every moment, every decision a reflection of that moment. With hindsight, we seek to tell of a past with reference to the past previous to that. We held a vision of ourselves in a previous past, and so that… Continue reading We did not lose ourselves.

As you travel, blessings.

Talking about traveling, here's a poem to keep you as you journey into uncharted territories, within and without. When you travel, A new silence Goes with you, And if you listen, You will hear What your hear would Love to say. A journey can become a sacred thing; Make sure, before you go, To bless… Continue reading As you travel, blessings.

Growing up

I am imbued with a sense of excitement – for you as you go into the world. Beyond adventure and travel, this is symbolic of the independence, the adulthood you are embarking upon. Because I have lived longer years and seen more things that could go wrong than you, I am feeling far less invincible… Continue reading Growing up

Steps Of Happiness or Steps Towards Happiness?

One step at a time… each step a joy… Enjoy this article!

In an earlier post on this blog, I shared a list of steps I regularly take which add to my happiness.

I originally entitled it Steps Towards Happiness.

My reasoning was that no single steps would automatically bring happiness to me or anybody. Also, it seemed to me that by heading more and more often in the direction of happiness, we’re more likely to be happier more than before. So, ā€œtowardsā€ seemed clearer and modest.

A few days after releasing that blog post, I listened to a talk by Zen Buddhist Thich Nhat Hanh. He pointed out that happiness is not the destination, it is the way. It’s not where we’re headed, it’s how we are. Happiness is elusive to many of us, because it’s not something we can buy and take out when we want it. It’s not something we can pile up and dole out whenever we’d…
