Feeling unsettled as I went into a meditation practice, this came to me so I am sharing.
Take a deep breath. Close your eyes.
Now imagine a place where you feel relaxed… A warm cocoon where you go to get away from the demands of daily life. A place of respite, a place where you can settle into yourself. Safe. Your sacred place.
What can you see – colours, shapes, people, scenes…? What sounds are present? And smells? Does this space feel cold, warm…? Are you doing something?
…
Pause 🙂 and try it.
…
Did you imagine a physical place, an experience, or a place that exists only in your mind? Did you settle into the spirit of a comfortable embracing amorphous space?
My sacred place have changed through the years; initially perhaps as a physical place to which I could escape to one that often accompanies me now. My bedroom with my nose buried in books was where I went. My sacred place now carries a remembrance of feeling safe and warm, a hazy combination of physical places and past experiences, of rolling waves and blue skies.
This is an aspect of growth – creating or finding our sacred place, this safe space to call our own.
Everyone needs a sacred place, perhaps one which you can access anytime wherever you may be.
What is yours?
