How is your now?

Now that we are required to stay home, how are you feeling? How are you experiencing this global phenomenon?

Remember when you couldn’t wait to get home from work? Are you now feeling “stuck at home”? Is it a little like when you felt “stuck at work” then?

What makes you experience joy or suffering?

I am not dismissing the hardships many are facing now – from physical and mental ill health to financial challenges to social dislocations.

For those who still have our basic needs met – that of food, shelter and health – and who know your future is still relatively stable though changed, and still feeling the stress, I offer this perspective.

The past is the past – the how-it-used-to-be, what-we-would-be-doing-but-for, if-only-we-could-be. And the future, well, who knows really. There will be speculations and educated guesses, expert studies and projections – hypotheses and statistics.

If we did not know what the past was like, if we were not concerned about what the future would be, what is now?

With all that is in your home, with the connections and communications you are able to make, how would you organize your material things, your daily schedules, your interactions?

If all you had was now, how would you be? And would that not be a contented and perhaps joyful experience?
